As an artist, I'm usually the one handling the brush and having all the creative freedom with my art. But not this time. Oh no. This time, my hair was the canvas and the award winning hair colorist Jamie Sea was owning the brush and all the creative freedom in the world.

Jamie Sea is an award winning Connecticut hair colorist better known on Instagram as @prettylittleombre to her more than 344k followers. Jamie has owned the hair-painting scene as a balayage and ombré expert since 2016. Her work has been featured in Allure, Sephora, ELLE UK, just to name a few and is a Redken Educator/Ambassador.
Jamie not only owns the salon SALT Hair, but is also the founder of SALT Society, a program that offers hands-on live classes, demo classes, traveling education, and at-home online tutorials for artists looking to further their knowledge in hair artistry.

"We believe in guiding a unique and inspiring experience so you can cultivate your own artistic styles, add to your arsenal of tricks, and continue to evolve and grow confidence behind the chair." - Jamie Sea
Aside from being an entrepreneur for most of her life, she's a mother of two and one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. As soon as I walked into her salon, she greeted me with a hug and a mimosa. We sat down in her beautiful, intimate studio and we talked about my hair goals, my hair struggles, and my actual hair. Then Jamie immediately went for it - she showed me her vision. It was a picture of Chrissy Teigen's short hair. That's when I knew I was in good hands.

After we covered all bases, the real fun began. She picked up the brush and started painting my hair, giving it dimension and depth with the darker tones, and meticulously blending them with the lighter ones to eliminate the harsh foil lines and to give it a soft glow for a natural/modern look.

Something very important to note about going lighter - make sure your hair colorist takes into into consideration where you already have lighter strands because it's not about the color, it's about the placement. In my case, my color was fine, but it was everywhere and it was streaky, which thankfully, Jamie was able to correct with her innovative blending techniques.

Something I really loved about Jamie and her team is how much they care about their clients - there wasn't a single moment I didn't feel comfortable. It's hard finding people like Jamie that truly care about your struggles and concerns. Often times, when you're at the salon, one person greets you, another person washes you, another person cuts, another colors, etc. But at SALT, just one hair stylist works with you from start to finish, creating a more intimate environment and making you feel comfortable and confident about the process.
After we finished, her sister Lindsay who's also an amazing photographer (yep, a family of creatives), came over and we took the coolest shots. Check out her Instagram @lindsayvigue and some of her work below!
All in all, I loved my experience at SALT and I am so excited about my new and improved hair color. It was a day full of laughter, quirks, joy, and positive vibes with the SALT squad. I can honestly say that for once, it was a great change to pass on the brush and trust someone else's creative vision.
