Talk About "Milestones" | SOREL Mile Long Runway

Wow! Never in my early stages of my career as a blogger did I imagine myself walking down a runway, let alone a mile-long runway. When SOREL reached out to me a few weeks ago with their initiative, I couldn't resist the opportunity and I agreed to be in the show.

The idea was to showcase the shoe line's versatility and most importantly its comfort, and what better way to do this if not taking the shoes out for a spin in the city. Because any shoe can look good on a short, elevated runway, but only SOREL can make footwear capable of owning a mile-long runway.

On the day of the show, this is how it all went down. It was 99 other girls and me. Each of us had our own call time for hair, makeup and rehearsal. Andreina and I were called at the same time so while she was getting her makeup done, I was getting my hair done. As I sat on the stylist's chair, I remember looking at my surroundings and noticing that just like the shoes, all the girls around me were so different: different skin tones, different heights, different body shapes, different hair types...

I realized what a special moment it was. Not every day do you get to witness a variety of real-life girls from all over the world, gathered in one room where they feel beautiful, powerful and on top of the world. As cheesy as it sounds, to me SOREL was making history one step at a time.

When it was time for the show, all 100 of us gathered into our positions and off we went. Our cat walk began on a regular runway that opened up into the High Line. I was so nervous just before I hit the stage but as soon as I walked out I remembered: 1. I was safe from falling because I was wearing snow boots 2. Harold was cheering for me on the side lines and 3. I was achieving a very important milestone in my life and that made me excited, confident and empowered.

We were 100 proud girls, with dreams as big as the city, walking runways as long as the High Line, who were making history together. With that said, if this experience showed me anything it's: believing in yourself enough is the first step to accomplishing your dreams!
